Learning in Willow Class

About our class

Welcome to Willow class. Mrs McShee is the class teacher and our class TAs are Miss Morris and Miss LaMonica.

Our class ethos is to be kind and respectful to everyone and everything, to always try our best and to try to think independently.

Homework is given out on Mondays and should be returned the following Monday

Spellings follow the twinkl spelling scheme and contain a different spelling rule each week. Tests are on Thursdays.

PE is on Wednesday afternoons and is taught by Mr Bufton.

Forest School for Willow class begins on the 13th of October and runs for 6 weeks, until the 24th of November. It will be on Friday mornings during these dates.

Swimming for Willow Class begins on the 27th of November and runs for 10 weeks, until the 8th of December. It will be every afternoon during these dates.

English

Our theme in English for this half term is 'letters'.

We will be writing text messages to introduce ourselves, reading books such as 'Meerkat mail' to explore and create postcards, and we will read 'Stone Age Boy' for inspiration for our own formal and informal letter writing.

Much of our English work is linked in with our History topic of 'Stone Age to Iron Age'.

We will be using Microsoft Word for some of our letter writing.

We will continue to have a daily focus on key literacy skills such as reading, spelling, handwriting, punctuation and grammar.

Maths

Our school follows the scheme from 'Hamilton Trust'.

This term we will be studying place value, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, fractions and shape.

The year 3 pupils will be moving on to learn their 3s, 4s, and 8s times tables.

The year 4 pupils will be moving on to learn their 6s, 7s, 9s, 11s and 12s times tables.
